Job Description

JBS is seeking a Technical Project Manager with strong leadership/management/follow-up skills, strong experience running Agile-based software development projects, and a technical background to assist with the nature of the role.  

In this role, the Technical Project Manager manages all aspects of a project short of technical decisions and implementations, and has the ability to grasp technical aspects of projects enough to know possible trouble spots, asking the right questions of clients and team leads in order to move things forward quickly and efficiently. 

Responsibilities

Owns: 

  • Successful delivery of entire project
  • Schedule/Calendar
  • Expectation setting with team, clients, and JBS supervisors
  • Reporting status upwards
  • Budgets in fixed price engagements
  • Serves as primary client contact
  • Creates estimates with developer input
  • Capable of running all Sprint Activities, including follow-up meetings to push forth progress on development initiatives
  • Set expectations with team, clients, and JBS supervisors
  • Works to be a technology partner with the client to translate their vision to a technical implementation
  • Works with developers to solidify technology roadmap for the project
  • Understands the project's technologies to the point that they can describe the high-level architecture of the project to both JBS supervisors and client
  • Exhibits strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Required Skills

  • 5+ years experience as technical PM on agile projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working on multiple projects

Qualifications:

  • 3+ recent years of experience as a full-time Scrum Master, Agile coach, or Scrum trainer 
  • Scrum Master or Agile certification (CSM or PMI-ACP, etc.) 
  • 5+ years of experience in product or software development roles 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency 
  • Experience with numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum framework (examples: methods for estimation and forecasting, burndown/up techniques, retrospective formats, handling bugs, measuring team health, user stories, ATDD, TDD, BDD, continuous integration/delivery, continuous testing, pairing, automated testing, games, etc.) 
  • Ability to distinguish Agile anti-patterns; can clearly communicate knowledge, tools, and tactics that are most appropriate 
  • Experience being on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (different team sizes, organization types, product/technology types, cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc) 
  • Track record of continued and recent education in Scrum, including training, conferences, user groups, self-study, etc. 
  • Knowledge of/experience using Kanban
  • Ability to capture and decompose work efficiently in to action items 

Nice To Have Skills

  • Experience in coaching and leading Agile transformation efforts
  • Experience working cross functionally, being the liaison between multiple teams. 
  • Experience with E-Commerce projects
  • Development background
  • Experience as PM on production systems with support/maintenance requirements
